Principal Project Manager

 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Principal Project Manager to join our Consulting Rail Design team. We welcome applications from Principal Project Managers across the north region centring on York, Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield.

 

Supporting our growing project management team, delivering work on our Northern Powerhouse Rail framework, specifically on the Sheffield Programme of work.

What you will be doing

As Principal Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of an exciting ES3 multi-disciplinary project focusing on Sheffield Station. You will act as a project management team leader, providing advice, guidance and supervision as appropriate to project management teams, operational managers, clients and suppliers in coordinating the multidisciplinary teams from across the North in the delivery of this incredibly high-profile project as part of a five-year framework.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements
  • Responsibility for the commercial success of the project, controlling budgets and managing the costs associated with the production of deliverables.
  • Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions
  • Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level and higher, including presenting proposals
  • Responsibility for the commercial success of the projects within the portfolio, controlling budgets and managing the costs associated with the production of deliverables
  • Liaising with client and supplier representatives, attending progress meetings, responding to queries etc.
  • Assuming the role of people manager when required by the business
  • Drive effective health and safety practices within the team

 

What you will bring to us:

 

  • Developed experience and expertise within the field of Project Management
  • Experienced in undertaking project related tasks associated with the management of health, safety and welfare, e.g. Amey’s Integrated Management System and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
  • You will apply project management theory and principles to complex or ambiguous situations, where concepts need to be adapted to reach the correct outcome
  • Capable of acting as day-to-day main project management contact for a project where required under the terms of the commission
  • Can take ownership for the preparation and checking of deliverables to a reasonable standard
  • Highly experienced with project management software and tools. Good ability to check work produced by others and able to validate and approve the use of new tools
  • Demonstrates very good commercial awareness
  • Excellent knowledge of suppliers and the services they provide, maintained through regular contact
  • Excellent oral communicator, able to present arguments and ideas very well to peers, more senior colleagues and clients. Can deliver internal training workshops to peers and presentations to clients
  • Has an excellent understanding of Health, Safety and Welfare, including specific regulations
  • Successful completion of either the professional review or end point assessment, resulting in the award of Incorporated or Chartered status or an equivalent professional licence
  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in an appropriate subject
  • Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) status with the Association for Project Management (or equivalent)
